Temporary clinic closure and remote consultations

22 March 2020

At Central Oxford Osteopathy we have now made the difficult decision to temporarily close the clinic. The health and welfare of our patients and our clinic team will always be our top priority.

We also want to act in the best interest of our wider community, to protect the most vulnerable. Although this will be tough for our business, we make this step as one of the small but important actions each of us can take to #flattenthecurve.

The immediate future is uncertain for us all, but any further change to our services and our re-opening plans will be clearly communicated on our home page, via our reception team and our online booking system.

Central Oxford Osteopathy is still here for you – phone and video consultations

Whilst we are unable to welcome you to the clinic in person, we are still here for you, our present and future patients. We will be offering phone or video consultations – details to follow. Whilst this is no substitute for the hands-on benefits of Osteopathy, there is still plenty of practical help we can provide. We can support you by:

  • Discussing your symptoms
  • Reviewing your progress
  • Updating how you can manage your discomfort or pain
  • Demonstrating and coaching you on stretches you can do yourself, at home
  • Advising whether you ought to seek further medical attention

Central Oxford Osteopathy is still here for you – home visits

In addition, and on a case by case basis, we will consider offering home visits for those in acute discomfort. Naturally, for the greater good we would like to keep this to a minimum and would only visit households where all residents are in good health and have not had recent contact with any confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19. For these patients, further information will be provided at the time of booking, about the additional steps we will take to keep you and our therapists safe.

What if I have an existing appointment?

If you have an upcoming appointment at Central Oxford Osteopathy, we thank you for your understanding. Our Reception Team will be in touch with you directly, to update you on our new ways of working. Please be reassured that any pre-purchased clinic appointments will remain valid for 24 months.

You may want to consider supporting our clinic in these uncertain times by buying treatment vouchers for yourself or a friend to use in the future (valid for 24 months). A block of five treatments is available at a generous discount.

Many thanks and good health

Before I contacted Jamie, I could barely walk and sit down after pulling my lower back very suddenly playing sport. My whole lower back was incredibly tense, and I was constantly worried that even the slightest movement would cause more damage and further intense jarring. After a few days of doubting that I had just 'pulled a muscle' and no sign of improvement I contacted the clinic and was seen within 24 hours. The location for me was perfect as I work at Oxford University Said Business School, so could easily manage to walk to the clinic. The treatment itself is never painful and I always feel at ease. From the first treatment I could feel an immediate improvement. I returned once a week for a number of weeks and was soon back to playing to sport and cycling into work. The best thing about my treatment experience was that Jamie determined the underlying cause of the problem straight away and worked on not only easing the symptoms very effectively but preventing it from happening again. One year on and I have not experienced the problem since.
